| Saturday, December 20, 2008 5:52:49 AM - Original Merry KISSmas report... |
|
Ace, and guitarist Derrek Hawkins appeared on Q104.3's Original Merry KISSmas last night, hosted by Eddie Trunk. Apart from numerous career spanning Kiss songs blasted into the ether, Ace sounded in good form and recounted several stories from his past. Ace also explained why it took him so long to get a website. Response to the website has been positive with 200,000 visitors and plenty of sign-ups to Ace's mailing list. They also recently filmed a jam of "Fractured Mirror," for possible use on the site soon, Most importantly, Ace discussed the new album, and had artwork for the CD with him. The title of the album apparently is not going to be "Pain In The Neck," and it and the artwork will be revealed on Ace's website sometime in early January. The stage the album has reached is "tweaking," though one song remains to be remixed in January. The essence Ace and Derrek presented is that they've been working hard on the album and that it's nearly ready. Good news for Ace fans! |

| Monday, December 1, 2008 4:33:42 AM - Site Status / New Features... |
| The KISSFAQ has embarked on finally getting up-to-date many pages within that have been neglected. More importantly, the Tourdate Archive is being massively developed, in conjunction with an ambitious project: In Your Face/In Your Head should tease and be of interest to those who want to see/hear Kiss' historic performances. This new feature looks at the audio live recordings (and some video) known to exist, though not necessarily circulate, and presents samples of that material for your enjoyment or trading planning. The ultimate object of this project is to have samples of every known archived show available for fans to see/hear. AND more, such as contemporary reviews of the shows the recordings are from, gig flyers, tape lineages, etc. |
| Monday, December 1, 2008 4:33:42 AM - Gene's "Axe" video game controller... |
PR - (Los Angeles, CA - November 24, 2008) - On the heels of his first foray into videogame controllers based on his axe-shaped bass guitar, Gene Simmons has a lot to say about it. "I never do anything half way. My AXE controller is the closest thing you can have to being onstage in KISS. I created and designed the Gene Simmons AXE™ bass guitar and I can't wait for the fans to experience it for themselves", said Gene Simmons. "The Gene Simmons AXE guitar is such a recognizable symbol - people have been asking for a gaming replica ever since Guitar Hero was first introduced."
Gene Simmons joined with Interactive Game Group, LLC to create the Gene Simmons AXE guitar controller for Guitar Hero® and Rock Band® video games. Commenting on developing the guitar, Interactive Game Group Founder, Fred Chesnais said, "Gene Simmons is the Rock Lord and the Gene Simmons AXE bass guitar is an integral part of his signature look. Bringing this Axe controller to life was an incredible journey, and I am sure every player will enjoy it". This fully equipped, axe-shaped guitar controller is a replica of the KISS bassist and vocalist's signature bass guitar. The AXE controller is personally certified by the Rock God himself, Gene Simmons, to give you that Rock Star experience. The wireless AXE guitar controller is a three-quarter-sized replica of the original Gene Simmons AXE guitar and larger than the standard video game guitar controllers. Customized with a replicated paint finish of the original guitar, the Axe guitar controller features Gene Simmons autograph and his photo in make-up painted onto the body of the controller. The first AXE video game controller brought to the market is compatible with Guitar Hero and Rock Band video games for PlayStation® 2 and 3. It is available now on Amazon (Playstation) | Amazon (Wii), or on http://www.genesimmonsaxeguitar.com retailing for $79.99. Additional platforms, such as for the Nintendo®''s Wii™ system or PC/PS®2, will be available soon. For additional retailers or information, please visit http://www.hipstreetonline.com, a division of Kobian, Inc., as well as the site http://www.genesimmonsaxeguitar.com. |

| Monday, December 1, 2008 4:33:42 AM - C.C. Banana Discusses Vinnie Vincent Tribute... |
|
Michigan's The Bear (WIMK/93.1 FM) recently chatted with rock & roll comic C.C. Banana regarding his participation in the newly released tribute album "KISS MY ANKH: A Tribute To Vinnie Vincent." In this 15-minute interview, DJ and fellow Kiss fan Steve Ponchaud talks with C.C. Banana about his new song "Ted Poley" (a parody of "Unholy" by Vinnie Vincent and Gene Simmons). C.C. also shares details of his unlikely origin and tells of his many rock & roll misadventures. The complete audio interview can be heard, HERE. Despite its humorous overtones, C.C. Banana's parody of "Unholy" is an appropriately heavy recreation of the Kiss original, featuring a guitar solo by Chris Caffery (Savatage, Trans-Siberian Orchestra), guitars and bass by Paul LaPlaca (Zandelle, Z02, Chris Caffery solo band), drums by Dennis Leeflang (Sun Caged, Epica, Bumblefoot solo band) and background vocals by Kelli McCloud (Queen of the Reich) and Vic Rivera (AdrianGale, Crunch, Poley/Rivera). A sample of the song is available at the official "KISS MY ANKH" MySpace page, along with samples of all other songs on the tribute. A video clip of C.C. Banana announcing his participation in "KISS MY ANKH" during an episode of "Talking Metal on Fuse" is available, HERE. Though Vinnie Vincent himself has not released any new material in over a decade, "KISS MY ANKH" pays tribute to the undeniable musical legacy of the former Kiss guitarist. Vinnie's compositions are widely regarded as a highlight of the Kiss catalog and remain a staple of the live Kiss set list. All songs on the tribute were written or co-written by Vinnie Vincent and originally appeared on albums by Kiss and the Vinnie Vincent Invasion. The artist roster features a mixture of veteran and rising talent, including members of White Lion, Savatage, Alice Cooper, Trixter, Nitro and others. All in all, "KISS MY ANKH" boasts a powerful lineup of inspired musicians and unforgettable music, assembled in honor of Vinnie Vincent. Further details can be found at the SplitScreen Entertainment website. |
