Monday, June 14, 2004 9:26:40 AM - Eric Carr pre-KISS band member John Henderson interviewed...
I'm finally getting around to transcribing the interview I did earlier this year with John Henderson. John was the band leader
of Salt & Pepper, whose band Eric Carr and Victor Cohen (both from the Cellarmen) joined in 1970. Eric would work with John
until 1979 while the band went though name/personnel changes becoming Creation, Mother Nature / Father Time, and being billed
as Bionic Boogie and Lightning. Read part 1, HERE... «Post A Comment»
Monday, June 14, 2004 5:01:14 AM - Eddie Kramer Auctions
"Legendary producer Eddie Kramer will be auctioning off personal items from KISS, JIMI HENDRIX and LED ZEPPELIN during the 2004 Classic Rock Auction starting July 18 via Backstage Auctions, Inc.
Throughout his 30-year career, Eddie Kramer has been behind the boards for the biggest names in music. But he is probably best known for his three long-term associations in which he created some of the most important music in rock history: JIMI HENDRIX, LED ZEPPELIN and KISS.
The entire Classic Rock collection up for auction includes a mind-blowing 2,200 pieces. Highlights include: recording reels (mostly from the legendary Electric Lady Studios), acetates & test pressings, vintage t-shirts, documents, set lists, artwork and backstage passes. Most represented are the classic rock bands from the '70s but there will also be an impressive range of jazz, heavy metal, rhythm & blues, pop and classical"... «Post A Comment»
Friday, June 11, 2004 7:54:20 AM - PAUL STANLEY: Solo Album To Surface In January '05
(From: Blabbermouth)
"KISS guitarist/vocalist Paul Stanley did a phone interview several days ago with Doug Podell of Detroit's WRIF 101.1 FM.
Listen to the audio of the eight-and-a-half-minute conversation in Windows Media format at this location. A couple of
excerpts follow:
On how POISON was selected to open the summer tour: "We wanted a fun band for the summer. And honestly there's not that
many bands around who are entertaining and can deliver something other than getting up on stage and signing about how
unhappy they are. I just have no patience for guys who are making millions of bucks by making albums where they sing about
how miserable they are. If you're so damn miserable, give me your number, I'll give you a call, give me your money."
On his upcoming solo album: "My album's about half done and it should be out around January. I'll work it around KISS and
when the time is right, it'll be out. It's pretty awesome. "The difference [between doing a solo album and writing a KISS
record] is
I mean, it's very easy for me to do a one-man KISS album, 'cause in the past, there's been a lot of times
where I've come in with finished demos and we would just wind up copying them. But in doing a solo album, instead of
writing songs with a band in mind, you put together a band with your songs in mind you do it backwards. So it's a lot
more fun, because you just take people in the studio that you want for a particular song as opposed to writing a song
because you have certain people"... «Post A Comment»
Friday, June 11, 2004 3:44:00 AM - KISS "Rock The Nation" US TOUR Kick-off Set List
The US leg of KISS' "Rock The Nation" tour kicked off last night in San Antonio, Texas. The setlist:
Love Gun
Deuce
Makin' Love
Calling Dr. Love
C'mon And Love Me
Cold Gin
Got To Choose
War Machine
Lick It Up
Parasite
She
I Want You
I Love It Loud
100,000 Years
Unholy
Shout It Out Loud
I Was Made For Lovin' You
Detroit Rock City
God Gave Rock 'N Roll To You II
Rock And Roll All Nite
KISSFAQ Says: Hopefully they'll drop some of the filler like "Calling Dr. Love," "Lick It Up," and "I Was Made For Lovin' You" (though I could
also do without "I Want You" and "Shout It Out Loud") and bring back some of the really cool additions to the set that they've
performed during the Australian and Japanese legs of the tour, mainly: "Creatures Of The Night," "Love Her All I Can," "I
Pledge Allegience To The State Of Rock And Roll," and "All The Way." Since this lineup can allegedly play anything out of the
KISS catalog, I'd rather see them put their money where their mouths are with a more balanced set list of oddities and core songs. Add in: "The Oath," "Larger Than Life," "Nowhere To Run,"
"Mainline," "Anything For My Baby," "Flaming Youth," "Charisma," "What Makes The World Go 'Round," "Killer," "The Street
Giveth And The Street Taketh Away," "Heart Of Chrome," "Paralyzed," "I Confess," and "It's My Life". Nah, never happy are we
KISS fans... «Post A Comment»
Thursday, June 10, 2004 5:12:34 AM - Official "Bootlegs" From Instant Live Concerts
(From: Instant Live Concerts) "Instant Live is teaming up with KISS to
offer high quality CDs of every show on their ROCK THE NATION tour. KISS is heading out on the road with a new show, new
stage, and set lists featuring rarely heard gems from the entire KISS catalog! Be there for the spectacle that over 78
million fans have already experienced, but this time you get to take a piece of history home! It all kicks off June 10 in
San Antonio!"
KISSFAQ SAYS: Instant Live Concerts is part of Clear Channel Entertainment, the music conglomorate so this appears
to be a win-win $ituation for the promoters, band (who wouldn't make any $ if they simply made recording OK during their
gigs), and fans (those who want live recordings from this tour). According to the
company's website the recordings are not "pure" soundboard recordings, but are "a mixture of ambient mics and feeds" meaning
the recordings will have a "live essence"... «Post A Comment»

Tuesday, June 08, 2004 5:23:00 AM - Aerosmith Topples America's "Gold Record Champions"?
Aerosmith's latest album, "Honkin' On Bobo," has been certified Gold by the RIAA. This means that Aerosmith now have 25
(including their "Box Of Fire" box collection of studio albums) Gold Albums in the United States. Depending how one looks at it,
KISS have 24 Gold albums, the last of which was the "Box Set" certified in 2001 (NO, the "Symphony" album has not been certified
in the US, only the DVD which currently stands at 2x Platinum). If one includes the four "KISS" 1978 solo albums (which is
a somewhat acceptable, if not seemingly desparate, argument since they bear the "KISS" logo and are technically part of the KISS catalog), then the band have 28; and
29 if you consider "KISS My Ass" a KISS release. KISS and Aerosmith remain close in terms of the number of compilations
which have been released (though Aerosmith's generally sell). What's it matter though, it's not the real measure of a band... «Post A Comment»
