CHAPTER 21 - Rock And Roll Party In Tokyo (1977)

“Rock And Roll Party In Tokyo” Album Notes:

Tracks 21.01-21.11 produced and recorded by Eddie Kramer. Mixed at Electric Lady Studios in July 1977. At least two separate mixes of this recording are known to exist. Before there was the real “KISS Alive II,” there was the possibility of the band doing a second “Alive” album for the Japanese market prior to the release of “Love Gun.” This album, titled “Rock And Roll Party In Tokyo,” was apparently recorded at the four shows at Budokan Hall, Tokyo, between April 1-4, 1977, during the band’s final shows during their Japanese “Sneak Attack” tour of 1977.

The recordings were later fully mixed and pictures do exist of Eddie working at Victor Studios, but unfortunately the album was never released. 60 minutes of the video footage from the shows was broadcast on HBO (Home Box Office, an American pay television channel) in July 1979. One reference to this planned album can be found, “in the PolyStar chronology insert in ‘Killers,’ which noted that on September 25, 1977, it was announced that ‘Rock ‘N Roll Party In Tokyo’ had been cancelled” (Garrison Spik). Parts of the recording have long been alleged to have been used on the “KISS Alive II” album proper.
